Remember that quote from Finding Nemo??
I have been saying that in my head all week!!
I was so anxious to start school back up!!
Our lives are much "more better" throughout the school year.
I am MUCH more organized.
I like having a set schedule.
The girls get along better.
We eat more meals together.
~I love watching the girls learn~
Emily was so exited to start back up, she slept with her Math book Sunday night :)
Instead of watching the TV, we have quiet reading.
Instead of play dates, we have art class.
Instead of sleeping in late, I wake up to the girls making breakfast for each other.
Instead of hearing "I AM SO BORED", I hear "CAN WE GO TO THE LIBRARY?"
This year's plan is similar to last year.
The big girls are using computer based curriculum available through Alpha Omega. We used their Bible based computer programs last year and liked them. This year, they are offering a new 'web based' program...nothing to install or cds to keep track of.
Oh, and if our computer crashes again, I won't lose all of their grades :)
(that happened 3 times last school year)
So far, we have planned for the big girls to spend time studying:
Math
Vocabulary, Language & Spelling
History & Geography
Anna is taking electives for
Science, Biology & Spanish
Elaine is interested in
British and American Literature & French.
We are keeping pretty busy with these subjects, plus adding in chores, reading time and "cooking class"...it is a very full day!!
The little girls are doing the usual subjects:
Math
Phonics
Spelling & Language
Art
Science and History (reading)
I try to focus on developing good reading skills with the little ones.
The other subjects can come when they are older.
Daddy is in charge of Bible Class, Bible Drills, Singing and Daily Prayer time. We spend time as a family every evening...the tv is off, we are all gathered together, and it is a really special time that we can focus on what is really important.
Wes bought a new digital recorder, and has been recording our singing time. It will be really neat to hear in years to come.
