HOMESCHOOL CAMP FIELD TRIP

While at Homeschool Camp, we took a day field trip. We visited Grouseland in Vincennes, Indiana. As the sign says, it was the home of William Henry Harrison.

It was a beautiful property.

There are some historial buildings from the same time period
on the property too. This simple building was my favorite.

Next, the group visited the GEORGE ROGERS CLARK NATIONAL HISTORIC PARK in downton Vincennes.

This building was amazing!!

We had the best tour guide, he was dressed in period attire.

He demonstrated a real gun from the 1800's too!

He joked that we would always remember the smell of sulfur.

He took us on a "once in a lifetime tour" through the basement of the

monument. It was a real 'fall out shelter' constructed in 1939.

The basement had recently been cleaned out, after rainwater had flooded that area for years. He "won over" our group of Homeschooling Christians with these stalagtites.

He said "it does not take millions of years for stalagtites to form, these started forming after about 7 years of rainwater dripping into the basement of the monument."

~~~ VERY INTERESTING~~~
Inside the marble monument were displays of fresco style paintings. They were incredible, and LARGE. They included scenes from the Revolutionary War.
Here is a statue of George Rogers Clark
Our group photo outside:
Emily's best little camp buddy John.
We had a great visit, but could not tour everything inside the visitor center. We highly
recommend taking this tour!!!
