Wes and I got an "early" tour of L&D at St. Francis last weekend.
After finishing the girls' room last Saturday, we were able to meet Shannon and Brian & frineds for one last dinner out before they moved to Kansas. It was a good time, but at dinner I started having contractions about 10 minutes apart. They continued all night, even to the point of waking me up several times in the middle of the night. By the time Sunday morning church rolled around they were anywhere from 6-8 minutes apart. I thought, if they continue through lunch, then we'll give the dr. a call. I refuse to go to the hospital without eating first!!!
We ate lunch at Panera, and sure enough, they were right on top of each other...We ran home to get our bag (just in case) and headed into the hospital. By the time we made it in, the nurses were all abuzz about a "patient who had never been up here before"...that was me. We weren't even sure where to go and ended up at the newborn nursery before someone took us to L&D. We have had all of our babies at Methodist, so not knowing where to go at St. Francis was kind of exciting.
We got checked in and checked out at Labor Triage. They monitored our little wiggly baby and ran a few tests. Everything came back A-OK, except for the fact that I was slightly dehydrated. Now that makes NO sense to me...I drink water CONSTANTLY.
The next day at my dr. appointment he assured me that everything was fine. He said that the heat and humidity is keeping the water from getting to the baby and that is why I was contracting. I am not dilating yet, so he said not to worry...and I haven't!!!
Having that trip to the hospital made me realize how much I wanted to get done before this little one arrives:

We ordered the car seat, stroller and a box of diapers
I found a diaper bag I like (at Hobby Lobby of all places)
We moved the changing table into our bedroom
I sewed two baby blankets and a new cover for the changing table
I put some new photos up for display in our bedroom
I have cleaned out every drawer in every dresser
I cleaned and organized every closet in the house
I made two big batches of strawberry jelly
I have a list of "freezer meals" all ready to go
I have clean sheets and towels all ready for when Granny & Pop move in for a couple of days
I feel MUCH more prepared now!!
